Bridge offers great fishing, fellowship
If you're looking for a free, easy to access place for fishing and crabbing, check out the Melvin R. Daniels Bridge along the Nags Head-Manteo causeway.
Along both sides of the relatively small span are concrete walkways that put anglers on top of productive fishing waters.
Each morning during the season, people from all over the mid-Atlantic can be found hooked-up to speckled trout or having fun landing a dozen Jimmies, as male blue crabs are called.
But if you ask most folks hanging around the area, the camaraderie shared by the group is best of all.
"All the people are congenial," said Al Rieger of Maple Shade, N.J. "They open up for conversation - plus it's free."
