When it’s time to go home again, you’re going to need a souvenir or two to tuck in your suitcase. Lucky for you, the Outer Banks has tons of shopping options—so you can pick up an OBX sticker just as easily as you can a Coach handbag.
Left your boogie board at home? Need the perfect summer sundress? Ready to buy a piece of local pottery? Looking for a nice relaxing beach read? You’ll find all sorts of locally owned stores—from beach outfitters and clothing boutiques, to bookstores, antique stores, art galleries, surf shops, gourmet groceries and more. Unique to the Outer Banks, these neighborhood shops really give the islands a distinctive flair.
The larger stores and groceries can typically be found around Nags Head, where you’ll find the Outer Bank’s only Wal-Mart. Tanger Outlet Shops are also located here, if you’re looking for brand-name deals.
