THE OUTER BANKS CHORUS PRESENTS – A Concert – April 29th – 7:30 pm – St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church, Nags Head – Admission by donation – Kyle Jacob Cook conducts; Cheryl Needham accompanies on the piano. African percussion will accent two of the selections in the concert. The Chorus, which has grown to include 60 voices, will open the program with Handel’s “Let Their Celestial Concerts All Unite” and Aaron Copeland arrangements of two American folk classics. Broadway fans will enjoy a selection of show tunes. Men of the chorus will perform anr American Folk song popularized pre-Civil War and there will be other full-chorus selections as well. In keeping with tradition, audience members who have sung with the Chorus in other seasons are invited to join in singing the group’s signature piece – “The Music of Life” by Joseph Martin.

OUTER BANKS DUALATHLON – A Run Bike Run Event –
April 30th – 7:00 am – Nags Head – This is an event for all ages and skill levels. The run course takes you through the quaint ocean side town of South Nags Head, and is set-up against a challenging fast 20 mile ride through the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge which includes the historic Bodie Island Lighthouse and Oregon Inlet. As an added feature the second 5K run, to finish this event, is held on the beach at the newly restored Jennette’s Pier. There is a beach-cruiser division available. Ace had so many unique items from his days in the Marine Corp, as a car collector, as a Budweiser man, etc. Some of these things cannot be replaced, but there are things that can be and this benefit is to assist Ace in the process of reclaiming his things. Ace has touched our lives in so many ways whether it be by his patriotism, the songs he likes to sing, his words of wisdom or for being that kind, welcoming soul that never met a stranger. 19th ANNUAL MOLLY FEARING MEMORIAL ART SHOW – May 1st – 31stDar County Arts Council, 300 Queen Street, Manteo – The annual “Mollies” features an eclectic mix of artwork, which will be on display at the DCAC Gallery in downtown Manteo. This show is held in memory of Mollie A. Fearing, one of the founders of the Dare County Arts Council. The Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show is open to Dare County Arts Council members and residents of Dare County age 18 and over. Awards include Best in Show, Excellence Awards and Honorable Mentions, and a People’s Choice Award selected during the opening reception. The opening reception at DCAC Gallery will be held Sunday, May 1 from 2-4pm, and will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live music. NAGS HEAD WOODS 5K – May 7th – 8:00 AM – Run a race through The Nature Conservancy’s Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve on a beautiful Spring weekend! The fun begins at 7:00 with the Double! The traditional 5K race starts at 8:00 am. In between, there’s the Village Realty one mile fun run for kids of all ages. The 5K course for both races is an out-and-back course that covers gently rolling terrain on hard-packed dirt in the woods. North Banks Rotary Club, in partnership with Outer Banks Kiwanis Club, hosts the race.
