27th ANNUAL ARTRAGEOUS KIDS ART FESTIVAL – Sept 24th – 10:00 am – 3:00 pm – Dare County Family Recreational Park, Kill Devil Hills – This year Artrageous will feature free, fun and unique art activities that emphasize the importance of reuse and recycling. These activities will be hosted by Dare County Arts Council and partner nonprofit organizations, including the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station. Chicamacomico’s involvement with Artrageous grew out of the “Take a Shake” project in which the Historic Association and DCAC distributed shakes salvaged from the 1911 Life-Saving Station to local artists. Kids (and adults!) will be thrilled to see what wonders they can do with a shake, some paint and brushes. Presenting sponsor PNC Bank will host The Grow Up Great table which will feature a craft area where children are able to use their imagination to create panda or butterfly masks. The College of the Albemarle’s nationally recognized, award-winning artists will offer interactive metalsmithing. Food vendors, local artisans, outdoor activities, and live music by Sensi Trails, Frozen Head and the Squirrels, and Midnight and Macabre will also be at Artrageous. Proceeds from Artrageous benefit art education and cultural programming in all Dare County Schools, the DCAC endowment fund, and the Artrageous Youth Scholarship Fund, which awards one scholarship to a graduating senior at each Dare County High School. For more information please call 252-473-5558 or visit www.darearts.org. Dare County Arts Council is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit arts organization dedicated to supporting the arts in Dare County.
