FIFTH ANNUAL FAMILY FISHING TOURNAMENT – June 6th – 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Jennette’s Pier, Nags Head – Sign up today for the Fifth Annual Family Fishing Tournament. Have fun fishing and perhaps land the big one! There will be awards for the largest fish caught. The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 and under. 3RD ANNUAL FINATIC KAYAK FISHING TOURNAMENT – June 6th – Finatic Kayak is hosting an annual kayak fishing tournament to benefit OBX Project Purple! The Captain’s Meeting will be held Friday, June 5, 2015 at Roanoke Island Outfitters at 6pm. The tournament will kick off at first light on Saturday, June 6, 2015. This is a photo catch release tournament. DARE DAY FESTIVAL – June 6th – 10:00 am – Downtown Manteo A fun-filled family event is always held on the first Saturday in June. It is an outdoor festival and is held rain or shine. Started in the festival is considered by most locals as the unofficial kickoff of summer. Dare Day promises free fun and festivities for the whole family. The day will be a full day of music, food, crafts and entertainment. Children can hop aboard a kiddie train, take in a magic show, have their faces painted and play games. Adults can walk along the beautiful downtown waterfront and check out the wares of more than 100 vendors offering furniture, toys, carvings, clothing, jewelry, birdhouses, paintings, wind chimes and photography. The aroma of delicious food fills the air with the smells from seafood, polish sausages, hamburgers and hotdogs! Plenty of cold beverages include fresh squeezed lemonade, slushes and all kinds of soft drinks.

THE DINOSAURS ARE BACK! NC AQUARIUM AT ROANOKE ISLAND – May 23rd – This summer, visitors to the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island will experience the return of the dinosaurs! Tyrannosaurs Trek brings life-size, animated dinosaurs to our nature trail, featuring tyrannosaurus rex, parasaurolophus, triceratops, stegosaurus, ankylosaurus and four babies. This educational experience is for the entire family, and children will be thrilled as the dinosaurs move and call using sounds they made millions of years ago when they roamed earth. Admission to this exhibit is free with regular Aquarium admission and will be open through August 2015.

DARE COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL SPECIAL EXHIBIT – Travis Fowler – June 5th – 30th – 300 Queen Elizabeth Street, Manteo – Dare County Arts Council is pleased to present a special exhibit featuring the works of Outer banks artist Travis Fowler.
