Outer Banks Spring is Here!!! Spring on the Outer Banks is just so much fun. Activities and events abound, restaurants are re-opening for the season, hotels and rentals are still at off-season rates, and the weather can be really great! No matter if you are planning to come for Easter weekend, Spring Break, or just a getaway we’ll give you some ideas every week for some great things to do to enjoy an Outer Banks Spring.


outer banks spring quilt showTHE OUTER BANKS COMMUNITY QUILT SHOW – March 5th – March 19th – Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm – Saturday – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm) – Roanoke Island Festival Park, Manteo – Vintage and antique quilts of all sizes will be on display. The show will include quilts made, or owned by quilters from the area, and by those with close ties to the Outer Banks. A wide range of quilting techniques including quilting, embroidery, applique’, and other needlework and embellishments will be showcased. Have quilting questions? HISTORY OF SURFING – March 9th – 6:00 pm – Jennette’s Pier, Nags Head – The North Carolina Maritime Museums & Jennette’s Pier will host an evening program on the history of surfing in North Carolina. Learn about North Carolina’s role in the history of surfing. There will be several presentations & video footages that helps tell the story of wave riding, board shaping & why NC’s coast is an East Coast surfing destination. There is no advance registration and walk-ins are welcome to attend the event.

CYNDI GOETCHEUS EXHIBIT – Through March 29th – Dare County Arts Councils is pleased to present a solo photograph exhibit by Cyndi Goetcheus, entitled “The Art of the Reflected World: Water.” Cyndi is a photographer who has traveled the world in search of images that speak to her. Often, she will explore small towns and locations off the beaten path, illuminating their beauty. For this exhibit, she focuses her lens on water reflections, capturing the abstract qualities of color and light dancing on the water’s surface. 300 Queen Elizabeth Avenue in downtown Manteo.
