Join artist Robin York as she hosts a new batik workshop at Dare County Arts Council. Batik is a “resist” process for making designs on fabric. The artist uses wax to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth, leaving “blank” areas in the dyed fabric. The process, wax resist then dye, can be repeated over and over to create complex multicolored designs. Robin will expertly lead you step by step as you create your own batik creation during this three hour class.
Students will gather at Dare County Arts Council between 6pm and 9pm. Cost for each class is only $35 for DCAC members or $45 for nonmembers, and include all supplies. A new theme will be presented each week. Perfect for anyone ages 16 and up, and it’s open to all skill levels – beginner to advanced.
