Looking for something different to make this vacation special? Why not join in the Sandbar 5K. Enjoy an early morning run on the beach in Kitty Hawk and raise money for The Outer Banks Relief Foundation. The foundation provides financial assistance to people who live and work on the Outer Banks and find themselves burdened with a debilitating disease or personal tragedy.
Registrants receive a t-shirt, a medal, an iced towel, post-race refreshments and the deepest gratitude of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.
Presented by Comprehensive Rehabilitation & Pain Specialists, this 5K beach run/walk set on the wide flat sands in front of the historic ‘Old Station’ public bath house in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Kitty Hawk, NC Milepost 4.5, Beach Access. This Access is on the beach road beside the Black Pelican restaurant. Parking is available at the access and at the Black Pelican. The Sandbar 5k Race starts on the beach at the MP 4.5 lifeguard tower and runs north and then south back to the start/finish line.
$30 per entrant until July 26th and $35 from July 27th on. Entry fee includes an event T-shirt and the after party. Entry fees are non-refundable.
On-line entries can be made through Active.com before 8/1/2014. Beach entries will be accepted from 6:15am-7:00am on the day of the race if space is available. A maximum of 500 participants will be allowed in this event.
Post race festivities include bagels and fruit as well as beer for the over 21 runners. Music & Live Remote Broadcast by Beach104.
Pre-race packet pick up will be available at the Outer Banks Sports Club (located on the bypass at MP 10.5 click here for directions) on Saturday, August 1st between 4pm and 7pm. If you miss the pre-race pick-up, you can get your packet from 6:30 am – 7:00 am prior to the race on the 2nd.
